Corona Crisis
Without a doubt, no one has gone unaffected by the coronavirus crisis over the last couple of months. MTEE is no exception. We have been closely following developments and government advice since the outbreak began. In the beginning, employees were strongly encouraged to stay at home if they had any kind of flu symptoms. However, in mid-March the Dutch government decided to close all schools, day-care institutions, restaurants and other public places to help reduce further spread of the virus. At the same time, MTEE decided it best that all office employees should work from home – with few exceptions, of which one is the management team. Luckily, people are managing well and finding new ways to communicate online. Work continues as before through the use of communication tools such as Skype, Webex and Microsoft teams. Short one-on-one calls, team telco’s or larger conference calls are all still possible – sometimes with a child or dog in the background asking for attention.
Below are some examples of how people from our sales department are coping with the situation:
Time for maintenance
As for our turbocharger production, it has been steadily reducing since the coronavirus outbreak. MTEE was able to continue production for some weeks, and we made use of it to fill our warehouse so as to make sure that when EDI demands are clear, we can deliver the required turbochargers immediately. However, from the second week of April, our production went down to only 30% capacity.
Most operators are at home for the time being, but all fixed employees will stay on contract. The low production capacity has given extra time for maintenance and 5S cleaning. Once our customers open their production locations, we expect our production to gradually return to full capacity again.
Business continues
At the beginning of the outbreak in Europe, MTEE restricted all business trips as well as external visits to our group locations. However, we strive to keep the business continuing as much as possible and to support our suppliers and OEMs. We are grateful for the dedication of our employees in these times and for the ways they manage to continue projects while following the precautions.
